3 Best Credit Cards for Your Summer Vacation

It’s never too early to start planning your summer getaway, and this year you can make your vacation even more enjoyable by cutting costs with a great travel credit card. Right now, credit issuers and their affiliated airlines and hotels are offering some amazing signing bonuses on their latest round of products.

In addition to free flights and cheap nights, these cards can help you secure lower rates on rental cars and in some cases will even provide insurance in case of an accident.

Here’s a look at 3 of the best cards on the market.

1)    The British Airways Signature Visa. If you’ve ever wanted to see foggy London Town – or anywhere else serviced by British Airways – then you should definitely consider signing up for the new British Airways Signature Visa Card. You’ll get 50,000 bonus miles, or Avios, as soon as you’re approved. You can earn another 25,000 miles by spending $10,000 on the card in your first year – and yet another 25,000 for spending an additional 10 grand. That all adds up to enough for a free round-trip business-class ticket to anywhere the airline services.

Though the card charges a $95 annual fee, it includes a smart chip that allows it to be processed in nearly every country in the world, and it doesn’t charge foreign transaction fees. On top of that, as part of Visa’s Signature program, the card also carries free car rental insurance, roadside assistance and access to exclusive events like wine tastings and concerts.

2)    The Marriott Rewards Card. When it comes to hotel rewards, Marriott’s Visa card is the leader of the credit card pack. When you sign up, you’ll receive 30,000 bonus points and two e-stay vouchers good for a total of six nights at any “category 1” hotel. That means access to Renaissance Hotels, Courtyard Hotels, Residence Inns and even Fairfield Inn & Suites.

You’ll also get three bonus point for every dollar you spend through Marriott and one point for every other purchase. Additionally, Marriott is currently waiving the $45 annual fee during your account’s first year. For all those free nights, that sounds fair to us.

3)    The Starwood Preferred Card by American Express. Being preferred by Starwood Hotels is a good thing. When you sign up for their signature American Express card, you’ll receive bonus points with the opportunity to earn more.

If you want to go on vacation this summer without breaking the bank, then you really should think about signing up for one of these travel credit cards. If you’re an avid spender, these excellent rewards programs can save you a bundle of money on your flight and hotel stay. That way, you can spend less time worrying about how you’ll pay the bills and more time relaxing by the pool, riding the whitewater or cruising on your motorcycle. You know what we mean.
