The Gold Delta SkyMiles Credit Card, issued by American Express, was created specifically for those interested in obtaining air miles rewards from Delta Airlines.
The Gold Delta SkyMiles Credit Card provides one mile to cardholders for every dollar spent on general purchases using the card. Purchase made at certain participating retailers and with certain merchants earns two dollars for every dollar spent. In addition, cardholders receive 15,000 bonus miles for their first purchase. An additional 2,500 miles are also awarded for each extra cardholder added to the card at the time of application.
Unlike many airline credit cards, the miles earned with the Gold Delta SkyMiles Credit Card never expire as long as travel is made through Delta Airlines at least once every three years. There is, however, a $100,000 cap on being able to earn two miles per dollar spent. Once this cap is reached, cardholders earn one mile for every dollar spent, regardless of the type of purchase made.
In addition to being an airlines credit card, the Gold Delta SkyMiles Credit Card has several attractive perks. For example, it provides purchase protection, extended warranty for purchases, and protection from unauthorized Internet transactions. The card also provides auto rental insurance, up to $100,000 in travel accident insurance, and a variety of additional travel related services. In addition, the card offers emergency cash and card replacement, medical and legal referral services, and access to the Offer Zone, which provides a variety of discounts at participating merchants and retailers.
The Gold Delta SkyMiles Credit Card has an annual fee of $95, which is a typical rate for airline credit cards. This fee is, however, waived during the first year of membership. In addition, cardholders who already carry an American Express Charge Card only pay a $30 annual fee. The card also offers an introductory 9.99% APR on all balances that are transferred at the time of application. This low APR remains in effect for the duration of the balance transfer loan. Otherwise, the variable APR on purchases, cash advances, and balance transfers is based on the Prime Rate.
