Editor's Review:
The Free Spirit Onyx World MasterCard is an excellent airline credit card from Barclays. This card was designed specifically for those with good credit who are also looking for an attractive airline credit card. With the Free Spirit Onyx World MasterCard, cardholders earn points for every dollar they spend to earn mile rewards and free flights for normal purchase activity.
The Free Spirit Onyx World MasterCard is a "stripped down" airline credit card. It doesn't have a ton of extra rewards features as some rewards card offers provide – you earn miles for purchase and you can redeem the miles earned for free airline tickets.
The card features complimentary Fare Club membership, worth about $9 per month, as long as your card remains "active" and you make at least one purchase within each billing cycle. The annual fee is waived for new cardholders in their first year of membership.
You'll earn 15,000 bonus miles when you make your first purchase or balance transfer with the card. You'll be credited for those miles after your first billing cycle closes. You can earn miles on balance transfers that you make to the card within the first 30 days of opening the account equal to one mile for each dollar transferred to your account, up to a maximum of 10,000 miles. Combined with the bonus miles that you'll earn from your first transaction with the card, you can earn as much as 25,000 miles in the first month of Free Spirit card ownership, which is enough for a free roundtrip domestic flight. You can also transfer balances within the first 30 days of opening your account to earn one mile per every dollar transferred (up to 10,000 miles).
You'll earn triple miles on each dollar you spend with Spirit and one mile per dollar spent for every other purchase. Miles never expire as long as the card remains active with at least on purchase per month. .
You can earn flights for free air travel from dozens of locations from Australia to Florida using your Spirit Card miles.
All in all, a pretty solid airline rewards card for all those frequent flyers out there to consider.
