Editor's Review:
The JetBlue Card from American Express is a fantastic airline credit card for anyone who frequently travels with JetBlue Airlines.
Like all airline credit cards, the JetBlue Card from American Express allows cardholders to earn free or reduced airline travel for simply using the card to make purchases. With this card, cardholders earn one Award Dollar for every dollar they spend with the card. Purchases made on JetBlue flights, gym memberships, golf green fees, and event tickets, as well as purchases made at movie theaters and restaurants, however, earn two Award Dollars. 200 of these Award Dollars are equal to one TrueBlue point, and 100 TrueBlue points earns a free round trip flight with JetBlue Airlines.
After making their first purchase with the JetBlue Card from American Express, cardholders receive 5,000 bonus Award Dollars (which is equivalent to 25 TrueBlue points). Many airline miles credit cards place a limit on the number of points cardholders can earn in one year, but this is not true with the JetBlue Card. Points do, however, expire one year after being earned. Similarly, TrueBlue awards expire one year after being issued.
Aside from being an airline credit card, the JetBlue Card from American Express also provides a variety of perks. For example, it offers purchase protection and extended warranty for purchases. It also protects its customers through identity theft assistance, protection from liability for unauthorized Internet transactions, and emergency card replacement. The card also offers the convenience of medical and legal referral services, as well as emergency card replacement. For the traveler, it provides up to $100,000 in travel accident insurance and auto rental insurance.
The card also provides an attractive 3.99% introductory APR on all balance transfers that are submitted during the time of application for the card. There are also no fees for balance transfers completed at this time. After this period is over, the variable APR is based on the Prime Rate.
Like most airline credit cards, the JetBlue Card from American Express does have an annual fee. The $40 annual fee is, however, quite low when compared to other airline credit cards. There is no fee for adding cardholders to the account. The minimum potential credit limit with this card is $1,000 and there is no maximum on the possible credit limit. Those cardholders that exceed their limit once established, however, receive a $35 fee.
