Editor's Review: The WorldPerks Visa Platinum Card is designed for a very specific type of person. This person is someone who not only travels but who travels on a regular basis. More specifically, the WorldPerks Visa Platinum Card is designed for someone who uses Northwest Airlines and its affiliates as a primary travel resource (or who would be willing to transition their frequent travel to Northwest Airlines). The WorldPerks Visa Platinum Card requires that you have good credit to qualify for the card.

The WorldPerks Visa Platinum Card is an airline miles rewards cards. Every dollar that you spend on purchases on this card will translate into one mile earned towards travel on Northwest Airlines or its affiliates. Bonus miles are earned through various means throughout the life of the card. For example, you receive 7500 miles upon being approved for the card and you receive 55 miles each time that you pay your annual fee. You may also earn extra miles on purchases made at specific restaurants associated with the card. There are some minor limitations on the miles but on the whole, these aren’t very restrictive.

In addition to the rewards that are accumulated when using the WorldPerks Visa Platinum Card, there are further benefits that are gained by those who qualify for this card. The most important benefit for those who travel frequently is travel accident insurance. Another important travel perk of this card is auto rental insurance coverage which can reduce or eliminate the costs that you spend on insuring rental vehicles when you travel. Purchase protection and online banking are additional features of the WorldPerks Visa Platinum Card.

The WorldPerks Visa Platinum Card does require that you pay an annual fee. The fee on this card is $55 per year which is a rate that most people consider reasonable for a combined platinum / airline rewards card. It should be noted that the interest rate on this card is relatively high in comparison with other cards of its kind. This does not pose a problem for people who pay their balance off in full each month. However, those people who carry a balance may find that another platinum airline rewards card is more suitable to their needs.
