Editor's Review:
The Platinum Business Card from American Express is a card directed toward business owners that have good credit. The card is ideal for those who are interested in keeping all of their business expenses kept to one card, as well as to those that anticipate carrying a balance.
The Platinum Business Card from American Express has a number of benefits. Perhaps the most attractive of these benefits is the introductory offer, which provides cardholders a 0.00% interest rate for the first 12 months on purchases. In addition, balance transfers initiated at the time of application or received within the first 45 days of membership receive a fixed 4.99% APR good until the entire amount is paid. All balance transfer fees are waived during this introductory period.
In addition to enjoying a low APR, cardholders also receive extended warranty for purchases and purchase protection. Business owners will appreciate the free business checkbooks and access to OPEN: The Small Business Network services. Cardholders also receive discounts at places such as Hertz, FedEx, AT&T and 1-800-FLOWERS.COM as well as a free American Express Connections Calling Card. This card offers ten free minutes of talk time every month for a year and additional minutes are $.18. Lost luggage insurance, auto rental insurance, emergency card replacement, and travel accident insurance up to $100,000 are also benefits associated with the card.
Cardholders also receive free access to the Membership Rewards Express® program. This program allows them to redeem their accumulated points on a variety of benefits and services. This program is known as one of the most flexible rewards programs in the credit industry and there is no limit on the number of points that can be earned each year. In addition, the points never expire.
The Platinum Business Card from American Express does not have an annual fee. In addition, it is free to add other cardholders to the account. After the introductory period is complete, the APR on purchases and cash advances is variable and based on the Prime Rate.
There is no minimum potential credit limit with the Platinum Business Card from American Express. The largest credit limit a cardholder can receive, however, is $50,000. If a cardholder exceeds the pre-set limit, there is a $35 fee. Late payments on balances up to $100 receive a $15 fee, balances of $100 to $1,000 are assessed a $29 fee, while late payments on balances over $1,000 are subject to a $35 fee.
