Editor's Review:
The Blue Sky from American Express is one of many reward credit cards offered by American Express, which is considered by most experts to be a leader in the area of rewards credit cards.
In order to be eligible for the Blue Sky from American Express, applicants must have a very good credit history. Like many reward credit cards, those that do qualify for the card will earn one point for every dollar they spend on purchases with the card. These points are looked at as “miles” and there is no limit to the number of miles that a cardholder may earn.
As long as the cardholder remains in good standing with the Blue Sky from American Express, the miles earned will never expire. Once the cardholder accumulates 7,500 miles, he or she may trade them in for a $100 credit toward a variety of travel related purchases. Or, the cardholder can save them and wait until another 7,500 miles is earned and trade them in for $200. The cardholder can save as many increments of 7,500 miles he or she desires, each of which is worth $100.
Unlike many rewards credit cards, cardholders do not have to make travel arrangements through the credit card or call in for travel vouchers. Rather, they simply contact a representative and the amount of money the cardholder has available is simply deducted from travel related purchases the cardholder has made. Eligible travel related expenses include hotel stays, flights, cruise tickets, and rental cars. Due to the nature of the redemption program, there are no blackout dates to contend with.
In addition to the rewards program, the Blue Sky from American Express also provides cardholders with additional benefits. For example, cardholders receive purchase protection, return protection, and extended warranty protection. In fact, with return protection, the cardholder receives a credit for up to $300 on any non-refundable purchase within 90 days.
The Blue Sky from American Express also offers some travel benefits that are not unusual for reward credit cards. For example, the cardholder can receive auto rental insurance, up to $100,000 in travel accident insurance, and a variety of other travel and emergency assistance services.
For added convenience and protection, the Blue Sky from American Express also offers emergency card replacement. In addition, cardholders can access a year end financial statement online without having to make a special request.
The Blue Sky from American Express does offer an introductory offer of 0% on all purchases for up to the first 12 months as well as a 2.99% APR for balance transfers. After the introductory period is over with the purchases, it reverts to a reasonable variable APR that is determined by the credit history of the applicant.
Those interested in reward credit cards that offer the exceptional value that American Express and its rewards programs have become known for offering will greatly appreciate the Blue Sky from American Express.
