Editor's Review: The Gold Card from American Express OPEN(SM), which is issued by American Express, is more than just a business card. It is also a great credit card for general use by those with a good credit history who wish to pay their credit card in full every month.

The Gold Card from American Express OPEN(SM) offers a variety of perks to small business owners. Among these perks is the Membership Rewards program, which can be added to the card for an annual fee of $40. Through this program, the cardholder can use points earned from making purchases to receive discounts on a wide variety of merchandise and services, including travel. Every dollar spent earns one point. There is no cap on how many points can be earned and the points never expire.

Another perk of the card is the special discounts cardholder's receive from businesses such as AT&T, FedEx, and Staples. In addition, the card offers purchase and return protection, guaranteed hotel reservations, up to $100,000 in travel insurance, auto rental insurance, price protection, and extended warranty service.

The Gold Card from American Express OPEN(SM) has a $125 annual fee. It costs an additional $45 for each cardholder added to the account. In addition, there is a 3% fee for cash advances, with a minimum of $5 for Express Cash transactions. For added convenience, the cardholder account is accessible online. The card also offers insurance for lost and damaged luggage.

There is no minimum or maximum credit limit and no pre-set line of credit is determined with this offer. Instead, each purchase is approved based on account history, credit record, and personal resources.
