Editor's Review:
The American Express Preferred Rewards Green Card, which is issued by American Express, is a great choice for cardholders who wish to pay the balance of their credit card in full each month. In this way, they can avoid high interest rates and accumulation of debt.
All credit cards backed by American Express enjoy a variety of benefits. Among the benefits a cardholder receives with the American Express Preferred Rewards Green Card are travel accident insurance, auto rental insurance, buyer's assurance plan, and purchase protection. Cardholders also receive discounts at participating retailers. American Express cardholders also enjoy the security of return protection, extended warranties for purchases, and no liability for unauthorized Internet transactions.
American Express also provides assistance to its cardholders in a variety of ways. For example, they offer legal referral service, medical referral service, and trip planning assistance. In addition, the card offers travel and emergency assistance, including lost luggage insurance and up to $100,000 in travel accident insurance. The card also provides guaranteed hotel and motel reservations.
Besides all of the great perks associated with going American Express, those holding an American Express Rewards Green Card also receive a free membership to the Membership Rewards program. This program is renown in the credit card industry for being the best credit card rewards program available. This is in part due to the flexibility of the program. Points earned with the program never expire and there is no cap on how many points can be earned. In addition, points can be transferred to 17 different frequent flyer programs with the usual exchange rate being two points equals one point for the frequent flyer account. The Membership Rewards program also offers a wide variety of goods and services that can be purchased with the points.
In order to earn points toward the Membership Rewards program, all a cardholder needs to do is spend money. Every dollar spent equals one point. To earn more points, cardholders can pay their wireless phone bill with the American Express Rewards Green Card, as this will result in two points for every dollar spent. Money spent with the United States Postal Service, at supermarkets, at drugstores, and at gas stations also earns two points per dollar spent.
There is a $95 annual fee with the American Express Rewards Green Card and $45 fee for each additional cardholder. These fees, however, are waived for the first year if the credit card is applied for online.
