Editor's Review:
The Rewards 660 Visa Card is distributed by Dakota State Bank and was created with those with poor credit in mind. This credit card is an unsecured credit card, setting it apart from most other credit cards for those with poor credit, which are typically secured or prepaid.
As a cardholder of the Rewards 660 Visa Card, you will experience numerous benefits. However, none will have a greater impact than the fact that this card directly reports to TransUnion and Equifax. This is a great benefit because with credit bureau reporting, people with poor credit are allowed to improve their credit scores over time with responsible card use. Since this card is unsecured, you don’t have to pay anything for the credit bureau reporting like you normally would with a secured or prepaid credit card.
As a cardholder, you also are able to access your account online and there are various lost and stolen card reporting features, so you will always feel protected.
Even though this is a great card for those seeking to get out of bad credit, there are still a few downsides you need to be aware of. For instance, there is a $48 annual fee. Plus, a fee of $97 is required in order to set up your account. Additionally, there is a program fee of $95 that you will only need to pay once and a $10 monthly fee for account maintenance. For your first year, you are required to pay a total of $360 in fees and $120 a year every year thereafter. This can be quite steep for those with a limited income and perhaps those living on a fixed income.
Likewise, the interest rate is quite high, making carrying a balance a real chore. Plus, there aren’t any other benefits that make this card attractive.
In all reality, the card’s credit reporting is only advantageous if you can afford to pay off your balance in full each month, or only carry a very minimal balance. So if this seems unrealistic to you, this card may not be right for you. But if you wish to get your credit back on track and only foresee using the card in emergencies, for instance, you might be well off with the Rewards 660 Visa Card. Just make sure you keep the fees in mind when signing up. If they cannot be accounted for in your budget, you’re best to look elsewhere.
