Editor's Review: The Discover® Open Road(SM) Card is a card for individuals with very good credit who would like both an attractive introductory APR on purchases and balance transfers as well as a cash rewards program on gas and auto expenses.

Discover® Open Road(SM) Card has an attractive 0% introductory APR on purchases and balance transfers for six months. The ongoing APR for this card is competitive with similar cards in the marketplace, although it's important to note that only the most qualified card applicants will get the lowest ongoing APR's that are available after the introductory period expires.

Cardholders will earn 5% in cash rebates for and auto maintenance and purchases, up to 1% on all general purchases, as well as .25% for purchases made at select discount stores and warehouse clubs. There's no limit to the amount of cash rebates you can earn, and rebates won't ever expire as long as your account remains active (at least one purchase) within a 36-month period.

It's also important to note that cash rebates are awarded on a tiered system that provides various rebates based on category of spending as well as the amount of purchases. The rebate offered on auto maintenance and gas purchases is variable. Cardholders spending from $0 to $1200 on auto maintenance and gas will receive a 5% rebate, between $1,200 and $1,500 earns a .25% rebate, between $1,500 and $3,000 earns a .5% rebate, and over $3,000 in purchases earns a 1% rebate.

Regarding general purchases, cardholders spending up to $1,500 on general purchases earn a .25% rebate, between $1,500 and $3,000 earn a .5% rebate, and over $3,000 earn a full 1% rebate.

Overall, Discover® Open Road(SM) offers a very attractive introductory offer as well as one of the better rewards programs available.
