This story is just too funny, and too frightening, to pass up.
Apparently, a woman in Australia decided she would try a little experiment and applied for a Visa credit card in her cat’s name. The funny thing is (or scary thing depending on your point of view) the cat actually got approval and was actually issued a credit card
But it isn’t as bad as you think. The woman didn’t just randomly apply for a credit card using her cat’s name and false address information. She applied for a second card in her cat’s name under her account. That’s why the card was issued without a hassle. Ultimately, she would bear financial responsibility for any charges that were levied on the card.
The thought of a cat having its very own credit card is certainly comical. At the same time, it is frightening to think that it is so easy to get a credit card for a second cardholder to an account.
But what’s interesting is the woman was never notified that someone had been added to her account, even though she was, in fact, that added her cat to her account. Had she not done it herself, she never would have noticed until the charges started to show up on her credit card statement.
Things that make you go hmmm…
