Tips, News and Advice from Credit Card Assist

Southwest Airlines and Chase Continue Partnership

by on June 11, 2007

Southwest Airlines and Chase Card Services have decided to continue their previous agreement, which resulted in the Rapid Rewards Visa Signature Card. The card was released in January of this year, and the two companies have made the decision to continue the relationship. According to Chief Executive Officer Gary Kelly, the new agreement will result in a card that will provide cardholders with “more opportunities to receive Award travel faster and easier than ever before.”

The new Visa credit card will bring with it some new and improved rewards. For example, cardholders will be able to earn eight Rapid Reward bonus credits instead of the four they were able to previously earn when they first use their card. They will also be able to earn eight more credits rather than five when they make a balance transfer to the card within 90 days after opening the account.

Cardholders will also be able to earn two reward dollars for ever dollar they spend on flights with Southwest Airlines as well as on vacation packages with the airline. In addition, cardholders will earn double reward dollars when making purchases with preferred rental car partners and hotels.

With the new agreement, acquiring 1,200 Reward Dollars will be equivalent to one Rapid Rewards credit. With it taking only 16 credits to earn a free roundtrip airlines reward, it won’t take long for cardholders to cash in – this is especially true when considering the fact that cardholders receive two Rapid Rewards every year on their cardholder anniversary date.

Cardholders are also able to access additional offers available exclusively to cardholders by visiting the Chase website and providing their email address. If you don’t already have one of these cards in your wallet, now might be time for you to look into it – visit www.southwest.com/visa to learn more.
