College Football Players Take Advantage of Old Lady

by on August 26, 2007

The rats run deep when it comes to credit card fraud and abuse. A poor old lady in Iowa was taken advantage of by her wide receiver grandson, Anthony Bowman, an Iowa college football player. It seems that Bowman and another wide receiver by the name of Dominique Douglas have both acknowledged having used the credit card without permission.

As a result of the criminal activity, both players have been suspended from the team. According to the grandmother, Bowman admitted to using the credit card that the woman had set next to his computer at his college campus. Although he only used the card to make a purchase of a $30 hat, the fact that this guy would use his grandmother’s card at all is simply disgusting to me. Besides, starting small is how these crooks get into the game of taking advantage of others.

To make this story even worse, the man claims that he wasn’t even sure if the credit card was going to work. The fact that he would make this statement in such a way as to imply that it makes it ok for him to use the card really makes me sick. Because he supposedly didn’t think the card would actually work, that is supposed to make it ok? I don’t think so!

I hope his $30 hat was worth it because the kid now faces the possibility of up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $7,500 for the charge. Now, that is what I call justice! I get so tired of hearing about these guys who steal from innocent people and get nothing but a slap on the wrist. Let’s just hope this doesn’t happen in this case.
