The first contactless taxi credit card payment system was recently introduced to the world by Barclaycard Business and Computer Cab. Barclaycard Business has been one of the largest processors and acquirers of credit card transactions throughout all of Europe for some time now. In fact, the company currently oversees over 152,000 corporate customers as well over 565,000 Visa cardholders. In addition to serving customers in the UK, the company also provides credit cards to people in the United States, Spain, Germany, Portugal, Italy, Scandinavia, and various countries throughout Africa
Together, the companies have created a new concept cab that would allow Visa cardholders to simply wave and pay for their cab rides. This would make it possible for the cab company to provide riders with a secure method of payment while also making the payment process more efficient. This method is also convenient for riders as they do not have to worry about fumbling with cash – or even carrying it with them – when it comes time to pay for their trip.
The wave and pay method of payment is currently undergoing testing in a variety of capacities. In each setting, the card holder simply passes the card in front of a specially created electronic reader. With this reader, small payments can be made quickly and easily.
