Credit Card Fraudster Arrested In Hollywood

by on November 19, 2011

HERMOSA BEACH, Calif. – Maria Christina Johnson, 40, was arrested in Hollywood last week on suspicion of forgery and burglary. She is currently being held on $80,000 bail. Johnson, who also goes by the names Gia Hendricks, Gia Hendrick, Maria Hendricks, Maria Johnson, Christina Johnson, and Gia Johnson, is suspected of using her numerous identities to befriend people, find places to stay, then stealing their credit cards, checks, and personal identification.

Police began investigating Johnson recently when a Manhattan Beach resident reported a woman, whom he knew as Gia Hendricks, charged $10,000 to his American Express account. He’d met her at a Hermosa Beach bar and spent the night with her at his house. While there, she stole his credit card without his knowledge, then went on a two day spending spree, purchasing alcohol and even an $800 bicycle. Hendricks had been accompanied by another woman, and it was this woman who contacted the victim to let him know what had happened.

Johnson has previously been arrested for identity theft, forgery, theft, bail jumping, and fraud. She is also wanted in Oregon and Washington where she previously served time in prison for identity theft.

Police have requested that anyone with information in this case contact them as soon as possible.
