Society offers more and more ways to express yourself and credit cards are not excluded in this age of customizable
everything. Since many consumers like to have their personal items customized, credit card companies are jumping on the bandwagon and offering customizable credit cards. Two of the more popular customizable credit card issuers are Discover and Capital One.
What You Like
Depending on your interests, you can get a credit card that showcases what you like or even causes that you support, such as wildlife or sealife causes. If you are looking for a more classy look, you might be able to add your monogram to the credit card or choose from a series of backgrounds that match your personality. Some credit card companies have even taken it a step further and allow the card holder to use their own photos as the image on the credit card. This customized design may even bring a measure of added security to your credit card.
Business Tactics
If you own a business and have a business credit card, customizing your cards with a company logo can be a great way to advertise what you are selling. Each time an authorized employee hands over the company credit card for a purchase, they are doing a bit of business promotion as well.
Long Distance Memories
Credit cards for college students may offer additional designs that kids would really go for. Parents can provide a customized credit card with a picture of the family for the their college student while they are away from home.
Design Alternatives
If you have a credit card that is issued by a company that does not offer customizable designs, there are other companies that offer credit card-sized covers that allow you to customize your card in a way that isn’t permanent and can be easily changed to reflect your mood. The covers you slip on your credit card do not affect your transactions but apparently do not work with credit cards that have the smart card, the kind of cards that use a microchip for easy swiping.
Legality of Designs
Some consumers wonder if customizing a credit card is legal. As long as the company providing the customizable card outlines the regulations in the terms and conditions of the contract, your customizable credit card should be perfectly fine. Remember to research new customizable credit cards only from reputable companies and be sure to look at all of the terms, such as interest rates and grace periods before signing up for just any cool-looking credit card. Regardless of what the design is, your money is what is important when it comes to making an all-important choice in credit cards. A designer credit card may be great to flash around town but remember that managing your credit is the best thing you can do for your financial welfare.
