Square has just released new software features to its app. With more companies trying to get a part of the mobile payments systems, Square has been constantly updating their apps to help attract more customers. Among other things, Square 2.2 offers the ability for companies to reward buyers who make repeat purchases. The merchant gets to decide what constitutes a repeat customer and what doesn’t.
Just two weeks ago, Square introduced an update to Card Case iOS. This app allows customers to pay for an item without taking out their phones, thanks to iPhone location technology. Square will release an Android version of the same app within the next month.
The push for new updates to Square have come as more market giants are making their way into the world of mobile payments. Even though current studies have suggested that mobile payment interest is still low among customers, it is expected that the need for this technology will only increase in the coming years.
