Bank of America Offers Brighter Planet Card

by on December 6, 2007

If you’re interested in a credit card that will help you make a positive impact on the environment, you might be interested in the new Bank of America card offer that’s been introduced in cooperation with Brighter Planet.  With the Brighter Planet Visa, you’ll receive one EarthSmart point for every dollar that you spend.  These points are then used to help with renewable energy projects.  According to Bank of America, every 1,000 points you earn with the card will help to eliminate approximately one ton of carbon dioxide from the environment.

There are some special perks associated with the card as well.  For example, Bank of America will make a matching one point contribution for every two points you earn through December 2008.  In addition, after you use the card the first time, you will receive 1,000 bonus points and you can earn another 1,000 in points if you choose to go paperless with your statements.  Considering your level of environmental-consciousness to even select this card, I’d think that you’d be more than happy to go paperless as well!

After becoming a member with this card, you can keep an eye on the projects that are being funded through the card by hoping onto the card’s website.  Another cool feature of the card is the fact that you can keep track of your carbon footprint on the planet through this website as well.
