New Card Supports Charitable Causes

by on April 4, 2007

For those that are looking for an innovative way to support their evangelical and pastoral missions throughout the world, the World Missions Visa Card is worth a look.  This card is offered along with Washington Mutual and Follieri Capital and makes it possible for cardholders to donate one percent of all of their purchases to their favorite religious charitable causes.

The card focuses on Catholic Church programs, but does allow the cardholder to choose from over 1,150 mission dioceses throughout more than 120 of the poorest countries in the world.  Efforts supported on these missions including healthcare and educational efforts.  The program claims that it only takes a $10 donation through this new credit card program to purchase clothing for ten Catholic school children in Sudan for an entire year.  In addition, it only takes $4 to buy food for an entire week for a kindergarten program in one of these poor countries.  In these kindergarten programs, children work with local sisters to learn the basics of Catholicism.

The new card was recently announced through the Society of the Propagation of the Faith.  The funds earned by using the card are automatically donated to the evangelical and pastoral missions of the church.

In addition to helping support these religious causes, cardholders enjoy a number of the benefits typically associated with a Platinum Visa credit card.  Benefits include coupons for a number of merchants and services, zero fraud liability, online bill payment, free on-line FICO credit-score access, and no annual fee.

The card has launched a massive marketing campaign and will be contacting more than one million Catholics throughout the United States through direct-mail.  In addition, they will be placing advertisements in Catholic newspapers.  Therefore, if you are a practicing Catholic that is heavily involved with your church, you will more than likely be hearing about this card soon.  Of course, even if you aren’t quite as dedicated to your church anymore as you used to be, you can still find a way to be positively involved by using this card.  In addition, if you practice another Christian-based religion, you might still be interested in this card because of its dedication to spreading education and religion to other countries.

There are a number of charity-based credit cards out there.  So, if you are not interested in one with a religious slant but are still wanting to help others, take a moment to do a little looking around.  There is certain to be one out there that suits your charitable interests.
