QSecure, Inc has introduced a new security feature for credit cards. The new feature, entitled the SmartStripe, is meant to help protect against counterfeit fraud. Through its simplicity, it makes it possible to add a layer of protection without forcing the cardholder or the retailer to alter their behaviors.
As a result of this new invention, consumers can feel more comfortable handing their credit cards over to waitresses or other establishments without concern the information will be stolen. Those engaging in swiping the information from the card will find the data they steal to be worthless.
One of the biggest perks to this new invention is that it does not require the merchant to make changes to its card readers. As such, it will not cost merchants anything to help improve the level of customer credit card security. QSecure is already in the process of working with credit card companies in order to integrate the new technology and expects to see the new SmartStripe introduced in 2008.
