WATSONVILLE, Calif. – If you have used a self checkout at lane at either a Save Mart or Lucky store, you may have had your credit or debit card information skimmed. The company recently reported that it had discovered that 21 of its 233 stores in northern California and northern Nevada had self checkout lanes that had skimming devices installed.
Although Save Mart has not heard of any customer’s accounts being compromised, it still highly suggests that customers who have used the self checkout lanes at these 21 stores during the months of October and November close the affected account and open a new one.
The card readers with the skimming devices were promptly removed from the affected stores. Save Mart has been working closely with the authorities, the financial institutions, and the card processors to catch those responsible. If you believe that you have a compromised account, be sure to contact Save Mart or Lucky immediately.
