It amazes me to discover how many people are still unaware of the fact that you don’t have to put up with harassing phone calls from credit card companies if you still owe money to them. I guess I have submerged myself in this credit card world for so long that it just seems like common knowledge to me. But I’ve discovered there are many people out there that are still putting up with these calls when they don’t have to. So, I thought it might be worth mentioning
In the letter you send, make sure to mention that you are exercising your rights in accordance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. This will help show the credit card company that you have done your research and are aware of your rights. In addition, notify the credit card company that you expect them to comply with your request or you will be filing a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and with your state’s attorney general.
After you have sent this letter, the credit card company has the right to contact you one more times in order to let you know they will no longer be calling you or to notify you of any action they may be taking. But let’s be clear about one thing … this will not allow you to circumvent payment on your debt. You will still owe the money and will be obligated to pay back the credit card company. But, at least you won’t have to be stressed out by the harassing phone calls anymore.

To whom it may concern,
My husband and I have spoken to so many people, concerning our AT&T credit card, and we constantly tell them to cease and desist with the calls. They are still calling! And, they call on the weekends, early mornings, late nights- it doesn't matter. Would you advise putting it in
writing and see if that works? What if it doesn't?

I am getting automated calls from unknown caller that this is a final notice about an account that is about to close from Visa…I do not have a Visa account. I called to ask to stop these calls and was told it is already being handle by FTC as a scam to get information from unsuspecting responders. How do I stop these calls when I do not even hold an account and Visa is not initiating the call.
