There are seven deadly sins when it comes to credit card usage. The first, and probably most important, is to pay your credit card on time, every time. People do not realize that being even one hour late with a payment is just the same as being five days late.
A late payment can cost you up to $25 in late fees and increase your interest rate. Another one to watch out for is paying only the minimum. If you are only paying what you have to on your credit card, it could take years to pay back even a small balance.
Another bad habit to break when it comes to credit cards is having to many cards. It is hard to say no to all the great offers some credit card companies advertise, but having too many credit cards can be bad for your credit score. Finally, never close all your accounts at once. Even if you don’t plan on using them, closing accounts can also do significant damage to your credit history.
