Editor's Review:
The Hawaiian Airlines Visa Platinum Card is an ideal credit card for individuals with very good credit who wish to take advantage of an airline rewards program associated with Hawaiian Airlines.
The Hawaiian Airlines Visa Platinum Card provides many attractive perks. For example, cardholders receive up to $1,000,000 in travel accident insurance, total security protection and protection from liability on Internet purchases. Cardholders also get to take advantage of an attractive 1.90% APR for purchases and balance transfers during the first six billing cycles, which makes the card ideal for moving credit card balances from cards with a higher interest. Cardholders also receive a 50% discounted companion ticket when purchasing a regular full-coach fare ticket including surcharges, applicable tickets, and fees.
The Hawaiian Airlines Visa Platinum Card also has an airline rewards program that is quite attractive, particularly for those that frequently fly on Hawaiian Airlines. With the card, cardholders can earn miles for every purchase make with the card. In fact, every dollar spent through Hawaiian Airlines earns two miles. All other purchases are good for one mile for every dollar spent. In addition, all purchases the cardholder makes with any HawaiianMiles supercharged merchants earns additional miles. The cumulative miles can then be used to reduce fees associated with travel with Hawaiian Airlines.
Cardholders also earn a bonus of 10,000 points after they make and pay for their first purchase using the card. An additional 5,000 points is earned every year after the card is renewed. There is, however, a 100,000 cap on the number of miles a cardholder can earn annually. The points earned never expire, however, as long as the card is active at least one time during a three-year period.
The Hawaiian Airlines Visa Classic Platinum has a $50 annual fee, but there are no additional fees associated with adding other cardholders to the account. After the introductory period, the variable APR for purchases and cash advances is based on the Prime Rate. The minimum available credit a cardholder can receive with the card is $500, while the maximum is $25,000. Cardholders that spend beyond their credit limit are assessed a $35 fee. In addition, late payments on balances of up to $250 receive a $19 fee, while balances over $250 are assessed a $39 fee. Cash advances also receive a 3% fee, with a $10 minimum.
