Editor's Review: The Rainbow Platinum Plus® Visa® Card, issued by FIA Card Services, N.A., is a really unique rewards credit card which appeals to a niche group of people. It is designed as a charity card which gives automatic donations to gay/lesbian causes for all purchases that are made on the credit card. What is particularly great about this card is that these charity rewards don't take away from the rewards that can be earned by the individual card holder. This makes it possible to get something while giving back to the community at no out-of-pocket cost to the card holder. With no annual fee and a low interest rate, this is considered to be a good rewards credit card for the average person who is interested in gay/lesbian causes and issues.

Most rewards credit cards that give money to charity do not allow the card holder to also get rewards. For example, there are cards that let you accumulate one percent cash back on purchases but that money goes to the charity associated with the card and not to the card holder. That is not the case with the charity benefits of the Rainbow Platinum Plus® Visa® Card. This is considered to be an average rate of rewards in comparison with other rewards cards and an excellent reward rate in comparison with other charity rewards cards. The points that are earned on this card can be used to make a variety of different purchases including travel purchases and gift certificates, and it also comes with all of the major benefits of any platinum level card such as personal concierge service and emergency assistance.

There is no annual fee associated with the Rainbow Platinum Plus® Visa® Card. More importantly, there is a zero percent introductory interest rate on balance transfers for the first twelve months so it's a great card for a charity-minded individual who has some high-interest balances that could be transferred to this card to lower monthly payments as well as finance charges. The ongoing interest rate on this credit card is either 9.99% or 15.99%, varying dependent upon the credit history of the card applicant. This is generally considered to be a decent ongoing APR in comparison with other credit cards.
