Editor's Review: The Chase PerfectCard Platinum Visa/MasterCard was created for individuals with a very good credit rating who make frequent gas purchases.

For cardholders who frequently purchase gas, the rebate program associated with the Chase PerfectCard Platinum Visa/MasterCard is a very attractive feature. When making gasoline purchases with the card, the cardholder receives a 3% rebate on purchases. Unlike many gas-incentive credit cards, this rebate is good at any gas station. In addition, gasoline purchases made during the first 90 days of membership result in a 6% rebate. There is, however, a maximum of a $15 rebate per month based on gasoline purchases. To earn the maximum rebate, therefore, a cardholder needs to spend $500 per month at any gas station. The card also provides a 1% rebate on all other purchases.

The Chase PerfectCard Platinum Visa/Mastercard offers a 0% APR on purchases and balance transfers for the first six months of membership. After the introductory period, the variable APR is based on the Prime Rate. The card does use the "Two Cycles Average Daily Balance" method for computing finance charges, which is a more costly way of determining charges than the more common "Average Daily Balance" method. Therefore, cardholders who carry a balance on their credit card from month to month may pay more finance charges with this card.

In addition to the gas rewards program, the Chase PerfectCard Platinum Visa/MasterCard has a variety of additional benefits. For example, it provides purchase protection, fraud and security protection services, liability protection from unauthorized transactions, and extended warranty for purchases. It also provides up to $500,000 in travel accident insurance, auto rental insurance, roadside assistance, and a variety of other travel and emergency assistance services.

After the introductory period, the variable APR of the Chase PerfectCard Platinum Visa/MasterCard is based on the Prime Rate. There is no annual fee for the card and there is no fee for additional cardholders. There is no minimum or maximum on the potential line of credit, though cardholders who exceed their limit must pay a $35 fee. Late payments on balances less than $250 are subject to a $15 late fee and balances of more than $250 receive a $39 fee.
