Editor's Review:
The American Express(R) Premier Rewards Gold Card is designed for people who are interested in a rewards card that is going to give them a lot of different perks. One of the major reasons that people apply for this card is because it offers VIP access to many different events just for having the card, a feature that many people really find appealing. However, this instant approval credit card comes with a high annual fee and a high interest rate so credit card applicants will want to look carefully at the card to make sure that the benefits are going to outweigh the costs over the time that the card is used.
The American Express(R) Premier Rewards Gold Card is designed to offer basic rewards to its card holders along with providing many other services. In terms of the straightforward rewards, this is a point-based credit card rewards system in which one point is earned for every dollar that is spent on the card. The points can then be redeemed for a variety of different things like gift certificates and travel. There are regular opportunities to earn bonus points on this card which allows rewards to accumulate more quickly than may be the case with other rewards credit cards.
In addition to the basic rewards, people are interested in this card for all of the other benefits it offers. It offers basic benefits like travel accident protection and advanced benefits such as VIP tickets to Gold Card Events, including things like sports events and concerts. These are lower-price tickets that offer exclusive access to VIP areas at these events, something that not many credit card holders can say they get with their cards.
The catch on this card is that the card holder is going to have to pay to take advantage of all of these rewards and benefits. There is a high annual fee on this card of $125 and there are lower fees for additional cards (given to spouses, etc). Furthermore, there is a high interest rate on this card which means that the cost can really add up for someone who is going to carry a revolving balance on the credit card. As a result, this credit card isn't great for everyone. Instead, it's intended for those people who can pay off the balance in full each month and who will take full advantage of the rewards and VIP services of the card. One good thing is that the annual fee is waived for the first year so it is possible to test the card out before deciding for sure whether or not the cost is going to be worth the benefits available from the card.
