Editor's Review: The First Vineyard Stored Value MasterCard, which is issued by BANKFIRST, offers an exceptional package when it comes to prepaid credit cards.  This prepaid credit card is ideal for those who having difficulty getting a standard unsecured credit card that would also like to participate in a cash back program.  In addition, this card offers unique rewards opportunities that aren't seen with other prepaid debit cards.

Earning Cash Back with a Prepaid Debit Card:  Those who have the First Vineyard Stored Value MasterCard have the unique opportunity to either earn a 1% rebate from their own purchases, or receive cash back based on the spending of other members.  Even better, the cardholder doesn't have to make this decision because the rewards are based on whichever earns the most rewards.

To be able to take advantage of the rewards system based on the spending of other members, the cardholder needs to build a minimum of three referrals to the First Vineyard Stored Value MasterCard.  If three referrals successfully receive a card and collectively spend at least $1,000, the cardholder can receive compensation from these cards.  In order to build referrals, the cardholder can simply go to the First Vineyard website and send out invitations to potential members.  If an invited applicant receives a card, the cardholder also receives a one-time $25 bonus.

There is a maximum of 100 referrals that can be added to a cardholder's personal active referrals list.  There is not, however, a limit on how much can be earned through the program and earnings do not expire.

To establish this prepaid credit card, cardholders must make payments in advance.  These funds can come directly from the cardholder's paycheck, government check, disability check, or from dividends.  Funds can also be added by sending a money order or by wire transfer.  There are even a variety of approved merchants and locations who can deposit money into the account.  There is a minimum deposit of $20, but no maximum deposits.

There is a $39.95 application fee associated with this prepaid credit card.  In addition, a $6.95 monthly fee is charged for participation, for a total of $83.40 per year.  Additional cardholders cannot be added to the account.

There are no fees associated when a sales transaction is completed, which does occur with  many prepaid debit cards.  This card does not report to major credit bureaus, so those looking to establish or rebuild credit will not benefit from the use of this prepaid credit card.
