The American Express(R) Premier Rewards Gold Card, which is issued by American Express, is great for a person looking to avoid building a large credit card debt by paying off the balance in full every month.
The American Express(R) Premier Rewards Gold Card provides the cardholder with a membership to the Membership Rewards program for no additional fee. This program has a reputation within the credit card industry as being the most flexible and the best rewards program available with a credit card. This is largely because there are such a wide variety of rewards associated with the program. Points earned can even be combined with frequent flyer accounts!
To earn rewards through the program, all a cardholder needs to do is make purchases using the American Express® Gold Card. For every dollar spent, the cardholder earns one point. For purchases made at drugstores, gas stations, and supermarkets, however, the cardholder earns two points for every dollar spent. Paying wireless phone bills and spending money with the United States Postal Service also earns two points for each dollar spent. Unlike many rewards credit cards, the points earned with the American Express(R) Premier Rewards Gold Card never expire and there is no limit on the number of points a cardholder can earn.
As with all American Express cards, the cardholder receives a variety of protective perks. For example, the cardholder receives a buyer's assurance plan, travel accident insurance, auto rental insurance, return protection, and purchase protection. The cardholder is also protected against unauthorized Internet transactions and receiving assistance in trip planning, medical referral, and legal referral.
The cardholder also receives a number of discounts at participating retailers. The Gold Card also provides the cardholder with free shipping and handling on certain catalog and online purchases, as well as special discounts on entertainment related tickets. In addition, the cardholder receives travel and emergency assistance, roadside assistance, lost luggage insurance, guaranteed hotel and motel reservations, emergency check-in service, and p to $100,000 in travel accident insurance.
The American Express(R) Premier Rewards Gold Card does have a $125 annual fee and additional cards have a $35 annual fee. These fees, however, are waived if the applicant applies for the card online. There is no minimum or maximum credit limit with the American Express(R) Premier Rewards Gold Card. Instead, the determination whether a purchase can be made is decided based on credit history, account history, and personal history.
