Editor's Review:
The American Express Preferred Rewards Green Card, issued by American Express, a great reward credit card for anyone who wishes to pay the credit card balance in full at the end of each month. While still providing excellent rewards, it helps prevent the accumulation of high interest debt.
This reward credit card is easily one of the best available because it includes membership to the Membership Rewards Program. In fact, the Membership Rewards program is well known within the credit card industry as being one of the best credit card rewards programs available. This is partially because the program has such as vast amount of items and services that can be purchased with reward points. In addition, the program is more flexible than other reward credit card programs. In fact, the points earned can be transferred to one of eleven different frequent flyer programs, generally at an exchange rate of two American Express points for one mile. There is also no limit on how many points can be accumulated and the points never expire.
Like most reward credit cards, a cardholder only needs to spend money with the card in order to earn points. As an added bonus, cardholders earn two points for every dollar spent toward paying wireless telephone bills. The cardholder also earns two points for spending money with the United States Postal Service, at drugstores, at supermarkets, and at gas stations.
Although the additional perks to having an American Express cards are not considered to be a part of the rewards program, they might as well be! Cardholders earn discounts at a variety of participating retailers when using the card. They also receive travel accident insurance, auto rental insurance, extended warranties, purchase protection, and no liability on unauthorized Internet transactions. Members also receive a variety of helpful services, including medical referral services, legal referral services, and trip planning assistance.
Cardholders can also travel with peace of mind because the card offers a variety of travel and emergency assistance. Included with the card is automatic lost luggage insurance, guaranteed hotel and motel reservations, and emergency check-in service. It also included roadside assistance and up to $100,000 in travel accident insurance.
There is a $95 annual fee for the primary cardholder, plus an additional $45 fee for other cardholders added to the account. These fees, however, are waived if the applicant completes the application online.
