Editor's Review:
The Citi® Diamond Preferred® Rewards Card, which is issued by Citibank, is a great card for a person with good credit who is interested in obtaining one of the best reward credit cards available.
Like many reward credit cards, the Citi® Diamond Preferred® Rewards Card provides the cardholder with points for dollars spent. One feature that sets it apart from other reward credit cards is the introductory incentive bonus. During the first twelve months of membership, cardholders receive five points for every dollar they spend at drugstores, supermarkets, and gas stations. After this introductory period, every dollar spent earns one point.
Like many reward credit cards, the points earned with the Citi® Diamond Preferred® Rewards Card can be used to purchase a variety of items or services. Unlike most reward credit cards, however, the cardholder can also choose to use the points to reduce the card's APR on purchases and cash advances. There is a yearly limit of 75,000 points that can be earned and points do expire after five years.
In addition to the rewards program, the Citi® Diamond Preferred® Rewards Card offers a variety of attractive benefits. For example, it offers an introductory 0.00% APR for balance transfers for up to the first twelve months of membership. In addition, it offers many standard features that are not common in reward credit cards, such as excellent travel benefits. These include up to $1,000,000 in travel accident insurance, auto rental insurance and discounts on auto rentals.
The Citi® Diamond Preferred® Rewards Card also offers purchase protection, extended warranty for purchases, price protection services, fraud and security protection services, and protection from liability for unauthorized transactions. The card also offers a variety of Internet account services and an autopayment option. Legal and medical referral services and emergency translation services are also provided.
Unlike similar reward cards, there is no annual fee associated with the Citi® Diamond Preferred® Rewards Card. There are also no fees for additional cardholders. The variable APR for purchases and cash advances is based on the Prime Rate, with the APR for cash advances being higher than the APR for purchases.
