Editor's Review: The HHonors Platinum Rewards Card, which is issued by American Express, is a reward credit card that is perfect for individuals who enjoy staying at Hilton Hotels and also have very good credit.

With the Hilton HHonors Platinum Card, cardholders are capable of earning three points for each dollar they spend on general purchases with the card. This feature alone makes the Hilton HHonors Platinum Card one of the best reward credit cards available, because most reward credit cards only offer one point toward general purchases. In addition to the points cardholders earn from general purchases, they also receive five points for every dollar they spend at Hilton Hotel, gas stations, grocery stores, drugstores, and at restaurants. Money spent on wireless phone bills and at the US Postal Service also earns five points.

Unlike many reward credit cards, the points earned with the Hilton HHonors Platinum Card never expire. The points system, however, is limited to the first $100,000 spent with the card. After this money is spent, cardholders can only receive two points for every dollar spent.

As an extra perk, the rewards program offered by the card can be combined with the Hilton's HHonors rewards program. This makes it possible for cardholders to earn points and frequent flyer miles for certain hotel stays. In addition, cardholders can earn up to 50,000 additional HHonors® bonus points upon approval for the card.

Aside from the rewards program, the Hilton HHonors Platinum Card has many other attractive perks. For example, cardholders enjoy purchase protection, extended warranty for purchases, and protection from liability for unauthorized Internet transactions. Cardholders also earn auto rental insurance, guaranteed hotel and motel reservations, up to $100,000 in travel accident insurance, and roadside assistance. Emergency card and cash replacement, as well as medical and legal referral services are also provided. In addition, cardholders earn access the Offer Zone, which provides discounts at a variety if merchants and retailers.

The Hilton HHonors Platinum Card has no annual fee, unlike many reward credit cards. In addition, it offers a low introductory APR of just 2.90% on balance transfers and purchases for the first six months of membership, though the transfer needs to be requested at the time of application for the card. After the introductory period, the variable APR is based on the Prime Rate.
