Editor's Review:
The Chase +1(SM) Student MasterCard® credit card is a student credit card with rewards designed specifically for college students. The rewards that are earned through the use of this card are unique to the interests of college students and include such unique features as bonus points earned through the Facebook online social networking site. There is no annual fee on the Facebook.com/plus1 so it’s a great starter card for a student that wants to start earning rewards. However, there’s a high interest rate on this card so it is not suitable for students who plan on carrying a balance on their cards.
The Chase +1(SM) Student MasterCard® is a rewards card which offers benefits that are specifically intended to interest the average college-age individual. For every one dollar that is spent on the card, one point is earned in rewards. Those points can be accumulated and then redeemed for various things including movies and VIP movie screening tickets, CDs and concert tickets and other entertainment items that are of great interest to college students. Points can also be redeemed for some limited travel, particularly in the area of Spring Break discount tickets.
In addition to the basic rewards of the credit card, the Chase +1(SM) Student MasterCard® offers some added benefits. One of these benefits is that bonus points can be earned through the Facebook social networking site that is associated with this card. College students who are active in online social networking will be interested in this feature. The other special benefits of the card also pertain to college life and include emergency cash replacement, extended warranty offers on some items and other types of credit card benefits.
There is no annual fee on this credit card which makes it good in comparison to other rewards cards. Additionally, there is up to three months of 0% introductory rate on purchases as well as balance transfers so you will pay no interest charges on things that you buy for the first 3 months after getting approved. It should be noted, however, that the post-introductory rate on the Chase +1(SM) Student MasterCard® is higher than average in comparison with other cards of its kind. This means that is designed only for college students who are going to pay off their balance in full each month after the introductory period is over. College students who are able to do that and who are interested in getting the benefits of a student credit card that's rewards focused may find that the Chase +1(SM) Student MasterCard® is one that they want to look at more closely.
