Like many cash back credit cards, the Citi® Dividend Platinum Select® Card for College Students offers 1 percent cash back on all purchases made with the card. For new cardholders, however, the cash rewards are even greater as cardholders earn 5 percent cash back on certain types of purchases made during the first six months of membership. Cardholders also receive 2 percent cash back on specific types of purchases, with the types of purchases eligible for the bonus changing on a rotating quarterly basis. To be eligible for the bonus cash back rate, cardholders must enroll in the new category each quarter.

Unlike many rewards credit cards, the Citi® Dividend Platinum Select® Card for College Students also rewards $5 in Dividend Dollars for each balance transfer of $1,500 or more that is made with the card. Cardholders also earn 1 percent cash back on all cash advances. Yet, despite the fact that these methods for earning rewards are virtually unheard of with a cash back credit card, the Citi® Dividend Platinum Select® Card for College Students does not charge an annual fee. While there is a $300 cap on the dollar awards that can be earned with the card, there are no limits on the number of Dividend Dollars that can be earned with the card. Each of these Dividend Dollars is equivalent to $1 in cash and can be redeemed in $50 increments.

As an added benefit, the Citi® Dividend Platinum Select® Card for College Students provides a number of different forms of protection. For example, cardholders automatically receive an extended warranty on most items for up to one year. Most items purchased with the card are also eligible for fire, theft and accidental breakage protection for up to 90 days and cardholders automatically receive auto rental insurance when using the card to rent a vehicle. Furthermore, customer service is available 24 hours per day and cardholders receive special assistance and support if they become victims of identity theft. If the cardholder’s account is compromised, he or she is also completely free from liability for unauthorized charges.
