University City Man Arrested for Fraudulent Use of Credit Card Rewards

UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo.- A man was charged with identity theft by the St. Louis County Police after he used the rewards points of other people to make several purchases. Deandre Horne, 21, of University City, worked at Maritz Inc. until the company discovered his fraudulent transactions. He was fired from his position.

Horne used the rewards points from four U.S. Bank customers to purchase a $250 gift card, a KitchenAid mixer, and a Sony Blue-ray player and notebook computer. According to the police report, Horne used the user ID and password of another Maritz employee that worked in a cubicle next to his for three of the fraudulent transactions. The fourth transaction was made over the phone. Employees of Maritz were able to identify Horne’s voice and the call came from a cell phone that he had access to.

All the items were shipped to an apartment complex close to Horne’s address in the 1000 block of Raisher Drive in University City.
