Consumer confidence must be making a comeback. A report based on Chase Freedom’s Lifestyle Index shows spending on entertainment and leisure has increased significantly this year over last. More people are taking that night out at the movie as spending at movie theaters increased by 24%.

Also, spending at theme parks rose by 21%. Other recreation activities such as golf courses and campgrounds also enjoyed an increase of 7%. The Index also shows that the celebration of spring holidays such as Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, and Father’s Day, along with graduation, are driving spring spending habits. The amount spent on jewelry jumped by 28% and the total spent on consumer electronics increased by 21% over last year.
