TechCrunch was the first to report that credit card comparison service FeeFighters.com has been purchased by Groupon. The terms of the deal have not been disclosed. Co-founder and CEO Sean Harper has stated that most of the employees will join Groupon and that no major changes are in the works. Groupon is the leader in the daily deal trend.
FeeFighters provides small businesses a way to compare fees for different types of payment methods. This is based on average transaction size and volume. The company has also created its own online payment gateway named Samurai.
Groupon has been buying up numerous tech companies as of late. The company recently released Groupon Scheduler which allows salons and spas to schedule appointments online. There has been no word as to why Groupon would want to acquire FeeFighters, but it is always looking to provide more services to small businesses.
