Kosovo Prime Minister Denies Using Official Credit Card, Investigation Proves Otherwise

Kosovo- A Freedom of Information request reveals a discrepancy in a statement by Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister, Behgiet Pacolli, that he has never used his official credit card. Pacolli went on record during an appearance on KTV’s Rubikon show. Pacolli stated, “I have no official car, I have no official phone, I don’t use the official credit card, I do not use the tickets paid from government budget. I do not spend government money.” He also went on to say that he has never filled out an expense form and charges nothing to Kosovo.

The Balkan Insight submitted a Freedom of Information request to check to see if Pacolli’s statements were true. According to information received from the request, during the first eight months of 2010, 50,000 euro was spent on his official credit card for airfares, accommodations, and meals.

Pacolli’s office denies that he is responsible for the charges, and saying that the spending came from others who were working for Pacolli.
