New Malware Targets Facebook, Yahoo! and Google E-mail Accounts

The old saying is that if something seems too good to be true, than it probably is; it seems that goes  for the Internet as well. So many people are easily tricked by scams on the Internet, however, there are usually obvious signs that something is a scam. Recently, Trusteer found a new P2P variant of the Zeus trojan on Facebook.

This malware uses a legitimate looking page and asks for credit or debit card information. In return for giving the information, the user gets 20% cash back on all Facebook points purchased. This malware only accepts Visa and MasterCard. Another recently discovered malware is targeting Gmail, Hotmail, and Yahoo! Mail users. This virus plays to everyone’s desire for more security online. The scam pretends to be from Visa and MasterCard and offers to sign the consumer up for a 3D secure service. According to Trusteer, consumers can only sign up for 3D Secure at the bank that issued the credit or debit card.
