WARRENSVILLE HEIGHTS, Ohio- The Ohio Auditors office released a report covering the period from mid-2007 to mid-2008. It found that a former superintendent and treasurer of the Warrensville Heights city schools used district credit cards without required documentation. The money was used for hotels, airfare, restaurants, and retail purchases.
The superintendent involved was Elaine Davis, who did not provide receipts for $5,397 in credit card charges. The treasurer involved was Brent Delman, who did not provide documentation for $1,313 in charges. Both will be placed on the auditors list of findings for recovery. This means that both will have to come up with the required documentation or pay back the money.
Both Davis and Delman have been replaced and new safeguards have been put in place by the district to keep this from happening again. Current treasurer, Donald Gambal, states that only two employees now have district credit cards and they are usually only used for travel reservations.
