Prepaid Debit Cards
A prepaid credit card is, in fact, not a credit card at all BUT rather a prepaid debit card that is used just like a credit card. One of the primary advantages of prepaid debit cards is no finance charges, helping you avoid debt by actually paying for purchases beforehand.
With prepaid debit cards, the card holder (you) determines the actual credit line that can be used by pre-loading the card with cash up front. As such, your credit line will depend on how much money you transfer to the card. While most debit cards or prepaid credit cards do not charge finance fees, many of these cards are "fee-based" so some of the cards can wind up being costly. Other fees that may apply with prepaid cards include monthly fees, startup or application fees, over limit fees, ATM fees and more.
